Rhythm is the heart-beat, an inherent primary component and the establishing pulse of all organic, elemental, mechanic and electronic activity; in the human realm it is always present in all areas; self, art, work, intellect, organism, spirit, energy, routine, intuition, sport, leisure. By opening ourselves to the factual rhythms that establish the dance of our existence and effecting a conscious shift towards rhythmic synchronicity, we will be better equipped to perform our daily tasks with more harmony, precision and connection. Regardless of social, intellectual, professional or racial background, rhythmic expression will take us to a wider and deeper understanding of our own powers and potentiality.
When people with a common mind gather in groups to express themselves through dance, song and music, an instant output of positive and powerful possibilities naturally unfolds. The mission of Cultura Ritmica is to make drums, percussions and drumcircles available to all sorts of people to be taken as tools for “new” ways of healing, creativity, meditation, education, conflict resolution, communication, spiritual evolution, personal development, team building, stress release, emotions management and to experience more joy in life. Because the universe is a great web of rhythm and to play the drum is simply an act of communion with the essence of being.
A drumcircle is a community event where people seats and / or stands in circle to play different kinds of drums and hand-percussions. It is a joyful learning experience accessible to any person willing to participate. Percussive games, improvised or set traditional-rhythms are played. While music is created in the flow, precise or perfect rhythmic articulation of a structure of patterns is not the ultimate goal but the connection with the inner-self and the group’s soul. There is no teacher, instead someone specially trained to facilitate guides the group towards a pre-established objective. As it is based in cooperation and self-deliverance, there is no audience, everyone takes part in the event. It is an activity that evolves as it unfolds. A phenomenon of the “new” rhythm culture that is emerging throughout the world.
Regardless of personality, profession, interest, race, nationality, gender, social status, religion or any other difference, and given the fact that it is a fast track to joyful gratification, drumcircles bring greater possibilities of success for any group; for self-generated rhythm opens up a multitude of channels such as; communication, concentration, cooperation, expression, correlation, consensus, liberation, intimacy, learning, disposition, emotions, complicity, connection, synchronicity, harmony, relief, relaxation, attention, receptivity, correspondence, coordination, precision, healing, meditation, entertainment, agreement, friendship, understanding, euphoria and catharsis: consequently these elements translate into well being, personal power, inner peace, joy, harmony, health, “new” ways of relating with each other, and more exiting ways of living.
